Nick Burton Kinect Development Director at Microsoft Studio Rare with Game Careers .BIZ

David Smith from Game Careers met Nick Burton at the noisy Game Industry. BIZ career fair in London. After completing a Computing Systems Degree, Nick spent 4 years researching 3D Volume Visualization and Surface Reconstruction in academia. In 1998 Nick left research behind and moved into the Games Industry where he now works as a Natal Development Director for Rare, which over the course of the past two decades has grown into a huge creative force behind today’s consoles and become a household name to games players worldwide. With over 12 years’ experience working on the Nintendo 64, GameCube, Microsoft XBOX, XBOX360 and now “Project Natal” Nick has spent a large part of his career working as a graphical FX programmer and academic liaison, he is also interested in Xbox Live Arcade development and has written for Edge, Gammasutra and Develop. Nick is now leveraging his computer vision experience as Natal Development Director for Rare and has been intimately involved with Project Natal since 2008.  The acquisition of Rare by Microsoft Game Studios came about in 2002. Rare went on to support the Xbox 360 debut with two of the three launch games, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero. Subsequent years saw us innovate with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, the Viva Piñata franchise and our pioneering work on Xbox 360 Avatars.
